Join us Thursday, February 13 from 6:30 to 7 p.m. CT for a free training and action on how to stop USDOT’s illegal freezing of funds that were promised to communities across the nation.

Musk’s illegitimate DOGE hasn’t gotten to USDOT yet, but that doesn’t mean the Trump administration isn’t preparing to wreak havoc on our nation’s transportation system. Following Trump’s executive orders and OMB funding freeze memo, USDOT is preparing to not only cancel agency orders, rules, and regulations, but to illegally claw back up to $20 billion in funding that has already been promised to state and local governments around the country.

These cuts would be devastating. The affected state and local governments are preparing to spend over $30 billion of their own funds on these projects, and some of them have even started work on the assumption that they would be receiving these funds. Even more important, if the administration is allowed to cut funding that has already been obligated, in defiance of a court order, it would be a constitutional crisis with direct impacts on transit governance. From the biggest state governments down to the tiniest local governments, nobody would be able to properly budget if they knew that even dollars explicitly promised to them could be clawed back if the federal government wanted.

We need to act now. Staff at USDOT are supposed to officially cancel these funds by next Tuesday, February 18th.

Join the Green New Deal Network, the National Campaign for Transit Justice, America Walks, Climate and Community Project, and Labor Network for Sustainability on Thursday, February 13, from 6:30 to 7 p.m. CT to learn more and help take action to make the administration follow court orders and unfreeze these funds that were promised.
