We want accountability

On November 4, Rep. Hakeem Jeffries was interviewed on Morning Joe. “The American people don’t want us to get even; they want us to get things done on their behalf," he said. To many, this sounded sickeningly familiar. Many analysts say past failures to hold criminals to account, especially during the financial crisis inherited by the Obama administration, has led to worse and more powerfulright wing movements.
"Why should Congressional Democrats investigate corporate America if their mandate is to deliver real economic change? Because investigations are a key catalyst for securing reform and legislation." Lina Khan
The American people want accountability and justice, laws applied to grifting cabinet members and criminal liars-to-Congress just as they would be applied to any one else. But, having hashed out his "affordability" message with with Jared Kushner a few weeks ago, Jeffries is already spinning  accountability as retribution to let the criminals walk.

A new change.org petition with more than 800,000 signatures urges Democrats to find another Speaker of the House. If you can find contact info for Rebecca Cooke, call or email her directly.

Ezra Levin of Indivisible writes, "The American people didn't just transform our political landscape in order for Democrats to turn around and return to business as usual." Indivisible is urging everyone to contact our Democratic Senators to demand new leadership in Congress.

Here's a script from Indivisible:

My name is ... and I am a voter who lives in ...
As your constituent, I want you to call for an open process to choose new Senate Democratic leadership.

Voters showed up in seismic numbers this November to show they wanted leaders willing to hold the line for our communities - for a new era of Democratic leadership in DC.

We’re tired of the same corrupt back-room deals. If you are too, you must call for an open process to pick a new Democratic leader.
