About 75 people gathered on all four corners of West Avenue S. and Jackson Avenue Friday at noon to Stand Up for Science as part of the national day of protest to draw attention to illegal impoundments and firings that are disrupting important scientific research, medical treatment, and climate action, and upending the lives of scientists, families, and communities around the country.

From James:
Had a good rally at the UWL Free Speech rally today, about 30 people, mostly students. I didn’t want to miss the pro-science demonstration but I went to the university instead. Channel 19 showed up. There were a few MAGAts hanging around, half a dozen young men. They tried to provoke us but didn’t succeed. One was desperately seeking attention. I don’t think he was a student there.
I ran across a Facebook group, Opportunity Wisconsin. Posters suggested we recall or impeach Van Orden for dereliction of duty. Good idea. Not sure how to go about it. Like Johnson and Tiffany, he is a constant source of embarrassment. We had good response downtown yesterday* and our numbers are growing.
