Absentee in person (AIP) voting for the August 11 partisan primary starts today and ends on Friday, August 7. You can vote at City Hall or at UWL* (see the City Clerk's website for dates and times in La Crosse and the County Clerk's site for other communities).

Why vote early?

• Schedule your voting when it works best for you.
• Don't worry about last minute election day weather, transportation, or schedule disruptions.
• If you need to register or update registration, it's less hectic than doing it on election day.
• Free up election day to work or volunteer at the polls or do last minute Get Out The Vote work for your candidate or give people rides to voting.
• As some expect possible attempts to disrupt in person voting in November, it's a chance to get your vote in in advance.

Experts don't expect issues in the August election, but there are fears of problems in November.

The Brennan Center for Justice warns of potential mass challenges by Republicans in November, an attempt to upend the counting of votes. This Greg Palast documentary, Vigilantes, Inc., shows how mass challenges were used in 2024 to Disenfranchise hundreds of thousands of eligible voters, most young people and people of color. 

While judges have struck down the regime's attempts to get voter rolls and force states to check voters against a national database that's sure to be flawed, the attacks keep coming. Unable to pass the SAVE Act (Strike American Voters' Eligibility) on its own, they keep sneaking it into unrelated must pass bills.
